Gadkari shares expansion work on Chenani-Sudhmahadev NH

JAMMU, Sept 29: Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today announced that his Ministry is expanding and enhancing Chenani-Sudhmahadev section on National Highway 244 in Jammu and Kashmir.
He took to X to share expansion of work and posted four photographs showing the ongoing construction work.
Office of LG Jammu and Kashmir reposted Gadkari’s information on expansion work which will connect Chenani with Sudhmahadev, Mantalai, Doda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar and Sinthan Top in Anantnag district making it an alternative route to Doda and Kashmir, sharply reducing the distance.

“In Jammu and Kashmir, we are expanding and enhancing the Chenani-Sudhmahadev section on National Highway 244, configuring it into a 2-lane road with paved shoulders. This significant undertaking, falling under Phase 1, spans a length of 16.99 kilometres,” Gadkari wrote on X.He said the upgraded highway is poised to provide year-round accessibility, a development that will significantly benefit the local economy and the residents of the region.“Guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, this project is dedicated to achieving efficient, hassle-free and environmentally responsible mobility in Jammu and Kashmir,” Gadkari said.

Meanwhile, Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh, who is also Lok Sabha member from Doda-Udhampur-Kathua constituency expressed thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nitin Gadkari for the project.
“Expansion and enhancing of the Chenani-Sudhmahadev section on National Highway 244, configuring it into a 2-lane road with paved shoulders. Thanks Prime Minister Narendra Modi and MoRTH Minister Nitin Gadkari,” Dr Jitendra Singh wrote on twitter.
The project focuses on the 16.99-kilometer stretch of two-lane road from Chenani to Sudhmahadev (National Highway-244).
The scope of the project includes the construction of a major bridge, two minor bridges, 16 culverts, one vehicular underpass, one pedestrian underpass, and two bus bays.

The project is being executed by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).
Beyond improving infrastructure, the project is set to provide year-round accessibility to the remote areas of Chenani and Sudhmahadev, both known for their religious and historical significance.
The enhanced connectivity will give a significant boost to the local economy, promote tourism, facilitate trade, and create employment opportunities in the region.
At its core, this project aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of achieving efficient, hassle-free, and environmentally responsible mobility in Jammu & Kashmir, ultimately improving the quality of life for its residents.
